The final figures – Kew Fete 2011 raised £12,500 for Charity

When the final adding up after the Fete was completed, we’d raised even more money for charity - £12,508 in total, so we are very pleased to be able to support two other local charities with donations from the Fete, INS and the Orange Tree Theatre.

The final recipients of donations from Kew Fete 2011 are:

Great thanks

For the second year running, by popular demand, Stuart from Discoz.
com compered the Kew Midsummer Fete. Not withstanding a torrential
down-pour, Stuart kept the itinerary of over 20 acts going for seven
hours without a break. His good humour, enthusiasm and ability to
engage everyone, from youngsters to the older generations made the
entertainmanet area a hit for all.

KEW FETE RAISES OVER £10,000 FOR CHARITY

On Saturday 18th June 2011 over £10,000 was raised at the Kew Midsummer Fete – almost double last year’s contribution to charity.

Run by local people for local people, the fete has two aims: to bring the community together in a fun day out on Kew Green; and to earn money for local good causes which don’t have the backing of major fund-raising operations.

This year charities were invited to apply for donations, and the variety chosen to reflect local needs and interests includes Kew Neighbourhood Association, Small Steps, Kew Youth Club, SPEAR and Kew Community Trust.

If you enjoyed Kew Fete, you might be interested in getting involved with Kew Village Market. Plans are for a market in Station Parade held on the last Sunday of each month. We are currently looking for people to help organise the market, have stalls at the market….and attend the market!

If you visited, performed or had a stall at Kew Fete on Sat 18th June 2011, we’d love to get your feedback, good and bad.

We’re keen to make the Fete enjoyable to as wide a range of local residents as possible, so we’d like to know what you think can be done to improve next years Fete – apart from the weather! We’d also like to know what you enjoyed about the Fete!

It’s today!

The Green is now marked up with all the spaces for the stalls, the craft marquee, beer tent and stage are ready – the forecast is getting better by the hour, we’ll all be there no matter what. Here’s hoping for a really successful day – hope to see you there.

This year the profit raised by the Fete will be distributed amongst 5 local charities, please come along and support them and all the others on the Green today:

Vibeke Dahl is a specialist portrait photographer working from a warm and friendly attic studio in Kew, Surrey (West London). Vibeke has been photographing families from Kew and indeed around the world for twenty years. Her portrait awards include • Kodak Gold award for portraiture
• Multiple first prize winner from the London Portrait Group
• Awards of excellence in the Master Photographers Association and the British Institute of Professional Photography annual competitions
